The Maldives, around 2,000 wonderful, tiny islands, are some 300 miles southwest of Sri Lanka. These mostly uninhabited coral islands sparkle like scattered diamonds across the glittering waters of the Indian Ocean and are simply ideal for honeymooners and romantics.
Each delightful island is the resort in itself and is surrounded by a turquoise lagoon. Diving in the Maldives is considered by many to be the best in the world and all resorts offer professional dive schools. For those of you who dream of true ‘Robinson Crusoe’ escapism, these islands will melt your hearts. However, for those of you who get bored by just lazing around and doing nothing, these islands may not be the place for you.
Please Note: Maldives is a Muslim country. In keeping with the religion, nudism is banned and the import of alcohol is strictly forbidden, although it is available to visitors in the resorts. Transfers to and from the islands are by speedboat or seaplane and are usually only provided in daylight hours. As some flights arrive late at night and depart in the early mornings, it would be necessary to have an overnight stay near the airport. Prices are available on request. Rare spells of bad weather, especially during the wet seasons, may result in water sports being restricted.
