The 5-storey Hotel Derby Barcelona was originally built in 1968 and subsequently re-launched in the mid-90's. Situated in a surprisingly quiet street, away from the bustle and energy of the city, the hotel is located in the heart of the commercial center. Lying close to some of Barcelona's main "Avenidas", the relaunched Derby Hotel was conceived by a team of English-inspired designers, drawing on a combination of oiled hardwood panels, soft lighting and comfortably upholstered armchairs. The results are best seen in "The Epson" scotch-bar, which has won several awards for the diversity of its cocktails, whereas the more contemporary "Times" coffee-shop serves a variety of Spanish, English and International bites. Less "British", but nevertheless equally inspired, are the guest rooms which are comfortable and peaceful, contemporary and decorative.
